My Final Practice at Northcote School

While at Northcote I was able to take my Yr 3 class in a full control capacity for the majority of the seven weeks I was on practice. Although we had the earthquake during my time at Northcote I was still able to complete a Visual Language and Social Sciences Unit.

During my last week another intern and I organised a rainbow games for the whole school where students had to search the school in teams and find teachers dressed in different colours. It all sounds easy but they had to watch out for the MEANY GREENIES!!!!

My Fourth Practice at Gilberthorpe School

During my fourth practice I had the opportunity to do a lot of different things with the students.
This included making sandwiches as part of our health unit, using COWS and other forms of ICT in Numeracy, Health and Technology. I was also able to organise a lot of fun shape activities in Geometry. The class loved using the COWS and being able to eat their tasty, healthy sandwiches designed by them.

My Third Practice at Cobham Intermediate teaching Yr7

After teaching Year One Cobham was a big change. I learnt a lot on this practice and was able to take a Science unit on a stream study which fitted in well with our camp to Kaituna.

While studying metamorphosis students decided to bring in Monarch Caterpillars. These became a real interest to the students. Naming and daily status updates become very important in the class.
Students got to design their own insects that used camouflage to hide in their surroundings.

One of the Challenges of Teaching Today!

My Second Practice at South New Brighton Yr0-1

Getting to learn and lead some Jump Jam songs was great fun.

My Second Practice at South New Brighton Yr0-1

Being able to work with Year 0-1 children really helped me to understand how it all starts. They are a neat age to work with.

My First Practice At Opawa Primary With Yr6

My Art Unit on sketching was looked forward to by the students. They learnt and developed some great skills.

My First Practice At Opawa Primary With Yr6

My unit on sketching in art also involved a bit of rock art.

My First Practice At Opawa Primary With Yr6

Getting to go up to Arthur's Pass on the train was a huge thrill for the students and myself.

My First Practice At Opawa Primary With Yr6

I was lucky enough to have a camp on my first section. The class went to Arthur's Pass. I love the outdoors and getting to do bush walks. Taking the students on river crossings was a real thrill. As they built up confidence they wanted to do more crossings.

My Big Career Change

After coming back from traveling around the world. I decided that it was time for a change of tack in my career. I moved away from Tourism and Automotive and decided to put my skills in training and communication to the test. BECOME A TEACHER.

Now I am at the Graduate School of Education in Christchurch. I've learnt HEAPS.

All Things With Wheels

Me with my CBR600. One of my other loves all things automotive.

So Many Things To See So Little Time

Traveling teaches you about yourself. Both what you like and dislike. As well as how to handle situations.

Traveling and I Go Hand in Hand

I have traveled around Europe and parts of Asia. I think its so important to see other parts of the world and be able to appreciate other cultures and how people live.
